During one of two bill-signing ceremonies for a massive expansion of education choice in Florida this week, Gov. Ron DeSantis and lawmakers heard from grateful families whose lives will take a turn for the better thanks to the new legislation.

Among them was Marie Echevarria, an Orlando district high school teacher and single parent who sends her young son, Eddie Joe, to a private school. Until HB 7045 passed, her salary put her just over the income eligibility threshold for a school choice scholarship.

In this passionate testimonial, Echevarria recounts her struggle to keep Eddie Joe at the school she considers the best fit for him.
