Book decisions: Brevard County School Board member Amy Kneessy is proposing a way to have more people challenge books used by Brevard schools. She also thinks the school board should have the final say on whether certain books remain in classrooms and library shelves. Grade appeals: The Pinellas County School District is appealing the “incomplete” grades issued to 10 schools. Officials say the schools’ simulated grades, released in December, are “representative of the students’ performance.” Gradebook. The Walton County School District is appealing its lower-than-expected school grade. They say 28 student tests from a high-performing school were misplaced and didn’t get included in the scoring. Employees honored: Penny Kehoe is named Florida school nurse of the year by the Florida Association of School Nurses. She’s been a nurse with the Leon County School District since 1990. Gun investigation: Zephyrhills Police Sgt. Reggie Roberts says he never left his service weapon unattended during football practices at Zephyrhills High School. The school district asked the police department to investigate the charge.
