SB 622 would establish Florida Institute for Charter School Innovation

The following bill has been filed for the 2022 Florida legislative session, which begins Jan. 11 and runs through March 11.

BILL NO: SB 622

TITLE: Florida Institute for Charter School Innovation

SPONSOR: Sen. Manny Diaz Jr., R-Hialeah

WHAT IT WOULD DO:  SB 622 would establish the Florida Institute for Charter School Innovation to improve charter school authorizations in the state. The institute would be based at Miami Dade College and would receive a $1 million appropriation. The institute would be able to apply for federal, state and local grants and would conduct research, training and determine best practices for sponsoring charter schools.
